Jon Abrahams is a visual artist, actor, film director & DJ born and raised in downtown New York City. He currently lives in Los Angeles’s Laurel Canyon. He creates complex images drawn from nature. His stunning print, textile & digital work features chromatic, abstract patterns.
From his education at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn to his upbringing as the son of artistic parents, Joan Abrahams and visual artist Martin Abrahams, constant creativity has influenced all aspects of Jon Abrahams’ life.
Jon Abrahams first appeared in Harmony Korine & Larry Clark’s 1995 film KIDS. He has since appeared in 40 films including Dead Man Walking, Scary Movie, Meet the Parents, House of Wax, Prime, and most recently in his second directorial feature, Clover.
Abrahams’ art ranges from kaleidoscopic and vibrant to architectural and metallic. The pieces hold a strong sense of emotion, as the works are each created in dedication to a person or an event in the artist’s life. His floral work is reminiscent of Georgia O’Keefe, Damien Hirst, Rothko & Marimekko as well as the psychedelic artwork of the 1960s & 1970s.
He is heavily influenced by music [funk, soul, punk, hip-hop, R&B], cinema, current events, as well as being drawn from his personal experience with life and death, joy and love.
Jon Abrahams’ art is created on a digital format and has lent itself to prints, murals and textiles. Each piece is an original edition.
